Enjoying the Moment

Hey guys!

My name is Dragriffin and welcome to today’s topic :

Enjoying the moment.

The picture I took above was after I took out my old couch to the curve. Originally, I wanted to rebuild it, but given the amount of work and cost it involved, it was cheaper to buy a new one instead. Funny thing is the person that helped me out with this was none other than my mom. From her very tall stature of 5 feet 4 inches (or maybe less, not sure here), she managed to pick up her side and lift it up. This couch may not look like it, but it’s still pretty heavy. So believe me when I tell you I was impressed. Who wouldn’t be when they get to see their mom muscle up on a Friday morning at 6AM? Given that I found the view quite interesting, I also took the time to give a crash course on how to take a picture with my reflex camera. She’s the one taking this picture after multiple… multiple instructions. It started the day and the weekend pretty well.

Given it was Easter weekend, I found out to my greatest surprise that Bloc Shop (which is my bouldering centre) was open. I know, that’s crazy! So, of course, I went! Like a lot of other people, family reunion happens in the afternoon. I had one of my friends joining me for this. Now let me tell you a bit about her.

I’ve known her for almost 10 years. She’s the big sister you wished you had, but don’t deserve. And she’s in shape. A runner and now, rock climbing with me. She’s a bit older than me, but you could never tell. Oh yeah, she has quite a character and I never get bored listening to her. She comes with her Jewish heritage of telling you what’s what. You know what I mean. Not the New Yorker Jewish, the “wake up and smell the coffee” Jewish. If you want to hear it straight, you have no other choice but to listen. That’s the big sister you want.

So we went for bouldering together and then, obviously, brunch. We’re not animals!!! It’s still Easter and after rock climbing on a “sacred” Sunday morning, you need to have brunch! And this, ladies and gentlemen, is no “happy meal” kind of brunch. This is pure ecstasy for your palate. If you go to McDonald’s and call it a brunch, you missed the point. I won’t tell you my brunch place. It’s too small to share with the world and it’s already pretty crowded. But we all have a place like this.

Did I mention I love brunch? I could do brunch three times a day. Here’s also how to truly enjoy your brunch. “Take your time and enjoy the moment.” It’s not fast food. It’s also about the people you are with. You don’t need your food ASAP (except when in a hungover situation). You need to sit back and relax.

Afternoon was family reunion where I got to BBQ a lamp leg on the BBQ. For some reason, ,my brain was off and I forgot to take a picture of the glory of a lamp leg rotating on the roaster… Sorry vegans, this is not a vegetarian or vegan blog. Notice the bacon on the picture? Yeah, I’m a meat and bacon kind of guy. That’s why I also train a lot. While everyone was eating and all, at one point I also got to play with my niece…

My niece turned one today. Like all other uncles, I’m proud. She’s sweet, smart and obviously adorable. I can’t believe my brother made a baby that looks like that. Thank God it doesn’t look like him too much. (I’m the pretty one between.) But for some reason, she has sometimes this look and it calms you down. I’m happy I captured it. That’s a happy kid and she has great parents too. I was happy I got to spend some time with her and I believe she will be an amazing person.

Overall, Easter Sunday was truly a great day. I’m glad we didn’t get into any traditional stuff and kept it to basics. Family, friends and great food.

Dragriffin out!
